Letter from the Director on Eligibility

Dear Veteran:

I would like to introduce you to the VA Medical Center, Manchester, New Hampshire.

Our main facility is located at 718 Smyth Road at the North end of Manchester. We also provide services at our Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Tilton, Somersworth, Conway and Portsmouth (Pease AFB), New Hampshire.

Our facility offers a variety of services including Primary Care, Mental Health, a wide spectrum of outpatient Medical and Surgical specialty services and an Urgent Care department which is open 24 hours a day. Additionally, we offer acute inpatient care through a contract with Concord Hospital with our staff on site to meet the needs of our Veteran patients. We also have a Community Living Center at our Manchester campus and Home-Based Primary Care that provides care in Veterans’ homes.

While not all Veterans are eligible to receive healthcare through the Department of Veterans Affairs, you may either pick up an application at our Smyth Road location, any of the four CBOCs, or access the online application at http://www.manchester.va.gov/. Once you have completed this process, you will be notified within a few weeks as to whether you have met the criteria for enrollment.

For all OEF/OIF Veterans, you are entitled to five years (from your honorable or general discharge date) of eligibility for health care of any medical condition(s) potentially related to combat service. Additionally, you have 180 days from your discharge date to file a “one time” dental exam if one was not completed during your out-processing. For additional information concerning our OEF/OIF program, please contact David B. Simpson, MSW, LGSW, at (603) 624-4366 X-6483 or Janine Wert, MSW, at (603) 624-4366 X-6932.

I encourage you to learn more about us by visiting our web site at http://www.manchester.va.gov/ or contact our Eligibility and Enrollment Office at (603) 624-4366 X-6247 or X-6799.

Our staff looks forward to serving your healthcare needs.
